Cardiff City manager Erol Bulut has criticised the lack of communication between Wales management to his club over the fitness and availability of Aaron Ramsey.

The Wales captain, 33, was named yesterday in Wales’ squad for the Euro 2024 playoffs despite playing barely an hour since injury in mid-September.

Ramsey did return in early February but suffered an additional setback with a calf injury.

At Saturday’s game against Ipswich, Ramsey said he was hoping to get back on the grass this week as he makes his return to fitness.

However, Bulut said he still has to get through a fitness test on Friday if he’s to play any part in Saturday’s South Wales derby at the Swansea.com stadium.

“Aaron trained today,” said Bulut.

“We will see if he can be a part of our squad but I don’t want to risk him by playing him for 20 or 30 minutes and then lose him for the rest of the season.

“I need to speak to the medical team and to Ramsey, and we’ll make the final decision on Friday.”

Wales play Finland on the 21^st March with the potential of a play-off final against Poland or Estonia five days later in a bid to reach this summer’s European Championships in Germany.

Bulut ruled Ramsey out of the play-offs in February and despite the club and national side sharing a training base, he has bemoaned a lack of communication from the Welsh manager to himself and his medical team.

“I was expecting [communication] from the management or manager of Wales but I haven’t had any discussion with him about Ramsey,” said Bulut.

“In the past he [Page] made some talks to the press which was in a different way.

“I would advise him to have better communication with us or at least the medical department, before the press.”

“We have to communicate and when we don’t communicate when we’re not far away from each other when normally it’s easy.

“It was not positive what he said before, so we need to talk together and to the medical department to know what he is thinking or what we are thinking.”

In other Cardiff news, club captain Joe Ralls signed a new contract to keep him at the club till the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

Ralls joined the academy in 2010 and has made more than 300 appearances for the club.

“I’m over the moon at the new contract, it’s great to get it done,” said Ralls.

“It’s great to get it out of the way and now I can focus on finishing this season as strong as possible and then looking to the years ahead as well.

“I can see what we’ve got as a squad, the way the club is going it’s moving in a good direction, we’ve had a lot of positives coming out of the club in the last 12 months. No one had to sell it to me, I know how good this club can be.”
