Wrexham have announced that their record goalscorer Rosie Hughes will be leaving the club upon the expiry of her contract this summer.

The 30-year-old striker is among seven players leaving the Adran Premier champions, with Neve Adams, Leah Burke, Abbie Iddenden, Carra Jones, Erin Lovett and Hannah Snape also moving on at the end of the season.

Hughes has been central to Wrexham’s extraordinary journey from the Genero Adran North to being crowned Adran Premier champions for the very first time this campaign.

Her contribution during the club’s promotion-winning season from the Adran North three years ago was nothing short of sensational, netting 24 goals in just nine games.

Even this season, despite starting only six league matches, Hughes has chipped in with nine goals, second only to Katie Barker in the squad’s scoring charts, underlining her ability.

The milestones tell their own story. In October 2023, Hughes became the first Wrexham women’s player to reach 100 goals for the club, reaching the landmark in just 46 appearances during a 3-1 win over The New Saints.

Then last November, she became the first woman to make 100 appearances for Wrexham since the women’s side was reformed in 2018, marking her century in style with four goals in an 11-0 Bute Energy Welsh Cup thrashing of NFA.

Wrexham will also bid farewell to three players hanging up their boots entirely. Former captain Keren Allen and midfielder Mari Gibbard have both retired, while goalkeeper Chloe Ankers is stepping away from playing to concentrate on her coaching career.

Looking ahead, Barker, Jodie Bartle, Maria Francis-Jones and Lili Jones are already tied down for the 2026-27 season, with 10 further squad members having been offered new contracts as the club looks to build on their historic title triumph.
