Bolton Wanderers have signed Wrexham defender Lewis Brunt, securing his signature on a permanent four-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old departs the Racecourse Ground after two seasons in Wrexham, a spell that included promotion from League One in 2025 and took his overall appearance tally to 41, with one goal to his name.

Brunt was already well acquainted with the club’s remarkable rise before he even signed, having helped seal promotion from League Two in 2024 while on loan at Mansfield from Leicester City.

He joined the Red Dragons permanently that summer and went on to make 29 appearances in all competitions as Wrexham completed an unprecedented third consecutive promotion, before featuring 12 times last season.

Brunt becomes the second player to swap Wrexham for Bolton this week, following striker Ryan Hardie’s loan move which was confirmed on Tuesday.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson paid tribute to the defender as he departed the Racecourse.

“I would like to wish Lewis all the best,” Parkinson said.

“He’s been great for us and I’m sure he will be a good signing for Bolton Wanderers.”

Speaking after his move to the Trotters, Brunt explained what drew him to Bolton.

“The club’s back into the Championship and I want to try to continue playing in this league and showcase my ability,” he told the club website.
