Wales men and women will take on the Barbarians RFC in a June double-header at the Allianz Stadium in Twickenham.

The men’s match will kick off at 14:00 BST on Saturday, 27 June before the women’s game follows at 17:00.

The matches are expected to be uncapped fixtures.

It is considered an away game for Wales so Barbarians choose the venue as the “home side”, while the Principality Stadium is hosting non-related rugby events over the summer with Metallica playing a rock concert in Cardiff on Sunday, 28 June.

Wales men last played the Barbarians in November 2023 in Cardiff when the hosts won 49-26 in an 11-try uncapped encounter.

It was a final farewell to Welsh legends Alun Wyn Jones and Justin Tipuric, who both played for the Barbarians, and full-back Leigh Halfpenny, who started for Wales.

Wales men will use the match in London as part of their preparations for the inaugural Nations Championship in which they will face southern hemisphere sides Fiji, Argentina and South Africa over consecutive weeks in July.

The South Africa game has been announced as being in Durban on 18 July while the venues for the other two matches are yet to be officially confirmed.

“Playing against the Barbarians is always a very special occasion,” said Wales men’s head coach Steve Tandy.

“They play with freedom and creativity and bring together some of the best players in the world.

“This is a game that will be an important part of our preparation as we gear up for the Nations Championship and will offer up some exciting action for fans.”

Wales women will have completed their Six Nations campaign in May and preparing for the WXV Global Series in September and October.

“The Baa-baas are a key part of rugby’s culture and history and have the ability to attract world class talent ,” said Wales women’s head coach Sean Lynn.

“We are delighted to have the opportunity to play them at the home of rugby.”
