Wales striker Elise Hughes has left Crystal Palace, just a month after the team had been promoted to the Women’s Super League.

Hughes signed for Palace in 2022, joining the club from Charlton Athletic, having previously spent time at Everton, Bristol City, and Blackburn Rovers.

Hughes’ most productive period at Palace came during the 2023/24 Championship season, where she scored 16 goals in 21 games for the club as they clinched promotion to the WSL.

However, she suffered another ACL injury playing against Lewes in the penultimate game of the season, missing the following top flight season.

Hughes has scored two goals for Wales in their 2027 World Cup qualifying campaign, and will be hoping that her goals can propel the nation to another major tournament.

“After four years, two promotions, one league trophy and some of the best moments of my career, it’s time to say goodbye,” Hughes wrote.

“The highest highs and the lowest lows have come in a Palace shirt, but I’m leaving a better player and person than when I arrived and for that I’ll always be grateful.

“To the club, the fans and my team-mates thanks for supporting me through it all.

“Thank you, Crystal Palace.”
