Wales fullback Powell signs new contract with Harlequins

Harlequins have announced that Wales international Kayleigh Powell has signed a new one-year contract with the club.

Powell has made 14 appearances for the Professional Women’s Rugby side this season, stepping in at both fly-half and fullback.

She was one of Wales’ standout players in the 2026 Women’s Six Nations, making 392m with ball in hand and crossing for a try against Italy in the final round.

Powell has also represented Great Britain in rugby sevens, playing at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The 28-capped Wales international’s retention follows the shock news that England World Cup winner Ellie Kildunne has left Harlequins earlier this month.

“I’m pleased to be re-signing with Harlequins,” said Powell.

“I feel that as an individual and as a club we have so much more to achieve. Our core values and the style of rugby we want to play excites me.”

Head coach Ross Chisholm said Powell “has so much experience and talent in a number of positions”.

“She is elusive in attack and a real rock in defence,” added Chisholm.

“I feel Kayleigh has developed her game over the last few seasons and believe that this is the best place for her to continue to thrive and show how good a player she is.”
