Glamorgan Women made history at Beckenham on Sunday, posting a record team total of 354 for seven before holding on for a 40-run victory over Kent.

It was a fourth straight win for Glamorgan in the Metro Bank One Day Cup, and keeps them firmly on course for the League Two play-offs.

Opener Daisy Jeanes made 110 while Scotland international Megan McColl, batting at six and making only her second Glamorgan appearance, went one run better.

But Kent made a strong effort with 89 from opener Coco Streets and a rapid 70 from Elsa Barnfather keeping them interested.

They were finally bowled out for 314 with Katy Cobb (3-49) claiming late wickets.

Glamorgan chose to bat but lost captain Lauren Parfitt in the fifth over, bowled for just two by Sydney Gorham.

That, however, was as good as it got for the hosts for some time. Opener Jeanes took up the responsibility of anchoring the innings and never looked back. She added 51 with Bethan Ellis, 55 with Megan Sturge and 68 with Megan McColl, batting with a freedom that Kent’s bowlers had no answer to.

Jeanes hit Amy Gordon back over her head for the four that brought up her hundred, making her the first ever Beckenham Festival centurion. She struck 13 fours and two sixes in all, facing just 84 balls for her 110 before falling fifth out in the 30th over.

Isabella James caused a brief wobble, taking two wickets in two balls after a rain delay, catching Megan Sturge off her own bowling for 21 before getting Bethan Gammon caught behind for a golden duck.

But Scotland international McColl, making only her second appearance for Glamorgan, was utterly untroubled. She was dropped on both 15 and 109 but made her good fortune count emphatically.

Blaze loan player Amy Wheeler contributed a blistering 42 off 30 balls, and the pair put on an unbroken 93 in the final 10.2 overs as Glamorgan plundered late runs.

McColl finished unbeaten on 111, one better than her partner in century-making, Jeanes.

James finished with the best figures of 3 for 68, but Kent were left to rue a succession of dropped catches throughout the innings.

Chasing 355, Kent refused to capitulate. Coco Streets continued her remarkable run of form – she has now scored at least a half-century in every One Day Cup match this summer – adding 73 for the second wicket with Kelly Castle (32).

When Streets fell for 89, having struck eight boundaries, Elsa Barnfather launched a counter-attack of the most dramatic kind, smashing four sixes in a 39-ball blitz and sharing a partnership of 104 with Rachel King (46 off 42) in just 11 overs.

In the end, the run rate proved too steep. King was run out, Barnfather bowled by Wheeler, and Northern Irish spinner Katy Cobb wrapped things up with three late wickets to finish with 3 for 49.

Kent were bowled out for 314 with 13 balls remaining.

Glamorgan, who are set to move up to Tier One in 2027, march on.
