Cardiff Devils have announced that forward Josh MacDonald has signed a new contract with the club, extending his stay for a third season.

The 32-year-old Canadian led the Devils in goals last season with 31 in 64 games played. He finished with 58 points in all competitions and was second overall in goals scored in the entire Elite League.

He was voted onto the Second Team EIHL All-Star at the end of the 2025-26 season.

The previous year in 2024-25, MacDonald was voted onto the First Team EIHL All-Star team by the coaches and GMs across the Elite League and won the Forward of the Year for the Devils.

He led the Devils in playoff scoring on route to lifting the Playoff Championship in April 2026.

MacDonald also helped the Devils win the IIHF Continental Cup the previous season and was voted as the tournament’s Top Forward, scoring five goals and three assists in five games.

Before moving to Cardiff, he spent three seasons in Germany in the DEL2, winning a Championship with Ravensburg in 2022-23 before moving to Krefeld for the 2023-24 season.

“Josh returns to us after another highly productive year,” head coach Paul Thompson said.

“He played a big part in our championship win last season, and I’m looking forward to working with him again.”
