Thomas Carroll and Cricket Wales have launched a new partnership to support the growth of girls’ cricket, backing a series of club festivals designed to encourage young players’ participation.

The initiative will support 25 girls’ cricket festivals taking place across Wales between now and September, expecting around 300 participants over this period.

Cricket Wales will also deliver girls-only Dynamos Cricket sessions at clubs during the school holidays, helping young players develop their skills and transition into club softball teams.

The programme builds on Cricket Wales’ All Stars and Dynamos initiatives, which introduce children aged five to 11 to cricket, and responds to growing demand from girls seeking opportunities to continue playing beyond introductory programmes.

Thomas Carroll, which provides business risk, insurance and financial advisory services, said the partnership reflects its commitment to supporting community initiatives and increasing opportunities for young people across Wales.

“Introducing young people to cricket and keeping them in cricket is at the heart of what we do, and this partnership with Thomas Carroll supports this step up from Dynamos Cricket and All Stars,” Mark Frost, Head of Partnerships at Cricket Wales, said.

“We need to capture the amazing impact of these entry level experiences for girls and offer a playing next step via festivals.  It’s about normalising the opportunities to play for girls and be the next generation of cricketers.”

“We’re thrilled to be working with Cricket Wales in supporting the further growth of girls’ cricket.” Greg Edwards, Sales Director of Thomas Carroll added.

“This partnership is a real step forward in helping grassroots cricket across Wales to flourish.

“As an organisation, we are committed to creating a better future for our communities and we are delighted to play a part in giving girls the opportunity to thrive in the game of cricket.”
