The all-new T-Roc: the award-winning adventurer

The all-new T-Roc is due to arrive at Sinclair Volkswagen retailers across South Wales in April and there is huge anticipation for a model that has already been in the limelight.

One of the most popular cars in the Volkswagen range and the brand’s most successful SUV after the Tiguan, the original T-Roc has clocked up more than two million sales since debuting in 2017.

And now it appears to have a worthy successor as the second-generation version has received star billing ahead of its first appearance in showrooms with a major award to its name.

Judges in the prestigious What Car? Awards have declared the new T-Roc as the Best Small SUV on the market.

Praising the new model in the magazine’s annual awards, Steve Huntingford, What Car? Editor said: “Inside, the new Volkswagen T-Roc feels much classier than its predecessor, thanks to a higher standard of assembly, sharp onscreen graphics and the widespread use of fabric and soft-touch plastics.

“But, at the same time, the T-Roc continues to offer the relaxed driving manners that have always been its forte. Indeed, its low noise levels and plush ride are now on a level that no other small SUV can match.”

The new T-Roc’s success was revealed at the turn of the year and only days after the stylish SUV became available to order in the UK. Since then, Sinclair Volkswagen has been reporting plenty of enquiries and test drive requests at its retailer in Newport, Cardiff, Bridgend, Port Talbot, Swansea and Neyland.

And there’s much to whet the appetite of car buyers with the newcomer promising expressive design details, bold new colours, a high-quality interior and even more space for luggage and passengers amongst its many plus points.

The new T-Roc retains the model’s quintessential DNA, with its coupé-like rear and ‘hockey stick’ C pillar, but its dynamic design is 12.2 cm longer and nine millimetres taller and wider than the previous version.

So, whilst it may be classified as compact, the extra length means this addition to the Volkswagen range feels supremely spacious and its roomy demeanour is enhanced by its increased cargo-carrying capability that has risen by 30 litres to 475 litres when loaded up to the height of the rear seat backrests.

Complementing the lounge-like atmosphere within the T-Roc is a newly developed dashboard upholstery that combines to stunning effect with background lighting and premium quality and soft-touch surfaces.

The interior of the new model is brimming with a raft of other appealing features and driver-assistance systems – many of which are taken from its larger Tiguan and Tayron siblings.

An extensive spec includes a large 12.9-inch infotainment screen as standard, an optional windscreen head-up display and the latest evolutionary stage of the driving experience control, which can be used to select driving profiles and control the volume.

However, it’s not only on the inside where the new T-Roc impresses as its expressive exterior catches the eye too. Alloy wheels up to 20 inches – a first for the T-Roc – and bold colours such as the new Canary yellow, Flamed red and Celestial blue create sporty good looks that are further accentuated by updated lighting, with light-projecting mirror housings and new LED headlights incorporated as standard.

With the optional IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights connected to the white illuminated Volkswagen logo by a narrow light strip and rear featuring a continuous LED crossbar with a red illuminated Volkswagen logo, the latest T-Roc really stands out from the automotive crowd and cannot fail to light up the lives of owners.

Motorists can take their pick from Life, Style and R-Line trims and an initial choice of two 1.5 eTSI mild hybrid turbocharged petrol engines, with outputs of 116 PS and 150 PS. A pair of two all-new full-hybrid drive systems will follow – all variants are front-wheel drive and feature an automatic seven-speed direct-shift gearbox (DSG).

The new T-Roc is priced from £31,620 (on-the-road recommended retail price including VAT). To find out more, please contact your nearest Sinclair Volkswagen retailer or visit www.sinclairvolkswagen.co.uk
