Team GB’s Harewood signs full-time contract with Cardiff Devils

Cardiff Devils have announced that Team GB international Bayley Harewood has signed a full-time contract with the club.

After playing the last five seasons on two-way contracts that saw him spend the vast majority of his time with the Bristol Pitbulls in the NIHL, Harewood is ready to make the jump to the Elite League on a full-time basis.

Last year in Bristol, he played 38 games between the League and the National Cup scoring 18 goals and 34 assists for 52 points.

Harewood also played for Team GB in the IIHF European Cup of Nations in February and then got the call to play in the World Championship in Zurich with Team GB, where he played 6 of the 7 games for the National side.

In 2024-25, when he was just 21 years old, Harewood led the Pitbulls in scoring with 33 goals and 55 assists for 88 points in 57 games.

“Bayley has earned his opportunity with a GB World Championship call up and now is a full-time Devil,” head coach Paul Thompson said.

“I’m excited to see him take the next step.  He has the ability to become a good offensive player in this league as he matures his all-round game, which has improved greatly over the last 12 months.

“He’s a talented player who is ready to make his mark.”

The now 22-year-old forward was born and raised in Barry and grew up watching the Devils. He came up through the Junior Devils Academy and has developed into one of the top young British prospects in the UK.

“This is a great story, and I am so pleased for Bayley for sticking with this process,” Managing Director Todd Kelman added.

“He has matured on and off the ice over the last few years and has earned his spot with the Devils.

“The last couple of summers, he has had plenty of options to play in the Elite League, but he wanted to be a Cardiff Devil, and he kept working hard with us every week in training and continued playing well for Bristol.

“We would like to thank the Bristol Pitbulls Organisation for the way they allowed this partnership to work over the last few years.

“Bayley wouldn’t be here if he wasn’t given the opportunity to play such a significant role with the Pitbulls.”
