Swansea’s Josh Tymon scoops up EFL Awards double

Swansea City’s Josh Tymon won the English Football League’s Goal of the Season award for his strike against Oxford United in December.

The 26-year-old’s spectacular left-footed volley at the Swansea.com Stadium was voted the best goal of the season across the Championship, League One, and League Two.

The awards for Tymon did not stop there, as the fullback was also included in the Championship Team of the Season at left-back, alongside teammate Zan Vipotnik.

Vipotnik, the Championship’s top scorer so far this season with 21 goals, was also shortlisted for Player of the Year, but lost to Middlesborough midfielder Hayden Hackney.

Wales midfielder Jordan James won the Championship’s Young Player of the Year award, for his stellar displays at struggling Leicester City.

Wrexham defender Callum Doyle, who signed for the club from Manchester City at the start of the season, was also selected in the Team of the Season.

Doyle, an elegant central defender, will hope his good form can lift Wrexham into the play-off places by the end of the season.

Elsewhere, Cardiff’s promotion campaign saw one of their squad selected in the League One Team of the Year, with the ever present Joel Bagan the only Bluebird selected.
