About Us:
Pontyclun Football Club is an amateur Welsh football club based in Pontyclun. Founded in 1896, we play our home matches at Ivor Park in Pontyclun and currently have 500+ players throughout the club including 400+ children. Our First Team currently play in the 4th tier of Welsh football, the South Wales Premier League Premier Division.
Big Wins:
After 129 years, it’s inevitable that we have achieved some fantastic and impressive wins as a club. The highest title win for our First Team was in the 2002-03 season when we finished top and lifted the Welsh League Division 3 title.
During the 2022-23 season, our U18 Youth team went on a magnificent cup run by reaching the FAW Youth Cup quarter finals, during the run they beat the likes of Connah’s Quay Nomads U18 who are a part of the Nomads academy set-up.
What You’re Really Proud Of:
We’re incredibly proud of our club motto ‘gorau chwarae, cyd chwarae’ which roughly translates as ‘the best players, play together’ which was first used by Thomas Edgar Russell in the 1920s and has since been adopted by the FAW and to this day features on the playing shirts of the national players.
Charity Work:
Each year we choose a charity to support during our annual fundraiser night dinner. The latest charity we supported was Velindre. We also host 2wish charity and support them during their annual charity football match.
What’s Next:
Our plan is to expand our changing room facilities to accommodate our growing girls football teams.
