Sinclair Group, Wales’ largest automotive retailer, is expanding its BYD footprint with a brand-new showroom in Llansamlet.

Following the successful launch of BYD Cardiff at Cardiff Gate Business Park last April, this is Sinclair’s second site for the Chinese electric and hybrid powerhouse.

And while the permanent, state-of-the-art showroom is under construction (set to open towards the end of the year), a fully functional temporary setup is already in place.

Located Swansea Enterprise Park, the site is up and running with a full dealership experience – that means forecourt, charging points, test drives and the full BYD line-up ready to go.

Not your average EV

If you’ve not heard of BYD yet, it’s time to take note. Standing for Build Your Dreams, BYD isn’t some plucky start-up, they’ve been mastering battery technology for over two decades and quietly became a global force in EV innovation.

In fact, they’re been making cars since 2003, and back in January, they delivered a staggering 300,538 vehicles worldwide — comfortably outpacing Tesla for monthly sales. Yes, really.

What sets BYD apart is their background in battery manufacturing. It’s the beating heart of every EV, and BYD’s in-house tech gives them an edge in efficiency, range, and performance.

More models, more miles – a growing range with impressive range

From the compact Dolphin to the bold new Sealion 7 SUV, BYD’s UK range has something for every kind of driver.

Their sporty SEAL saloon even hits 0–60 in just 3.8 seconds – not bad for an EV that won’t break the bank. But the one turning the most heads right now? The SEAL U DM-i.

This clever plug-in hybrid gives you up to 77 miles of electric range for everyday driving, plus a 1.5 litre petrol engine with a whopping 671-mile combined range for the long hauls. Ideal if you’re not quite ready to ditch a traditional combustion engine altogether, but want to dip a toe into the electric future.

Not just a showroom – a statement

The upcoming Llansamlet dealership promises to be something pretty special. Once complete, the site will feature:

• An 8-car BYD showroom

• Dedicated handover bay

• Rapid Charging facilities

• Boutique retail space
• A plush “Dream Bar” hospitality area & customer lounge

It’ll also be one of the first UK showrooms to adopt BYD’s new ultramodern ‘Gensler’ design — clean, minimalist and future-facing.
