Glamorgan Women have secured a home semi-final in the One Day Cup after Abbey Freeborn struck her second successive century in a crushing 195-run win over Worcestershire.

Freeborn made 128 and shared century partnerships with Lauren Parfitt and Megan Sturge, who both scored half centuries, as Glamorgan piled up a huge 358 for 7 at Bromsgrove.

Worcestershire Rapids were never in the contest in reply, managing just 163 as leg-spinner Nicole Reid claimed 4 for 35 and off-spinner Gemma Porter took 3 for 28.

The result gives Glamorgan six wins from seven group games, and they’ll be hoping to add the League Two 50-over trophy to the success they’ve already enjoyed in the second-tier Blast this season, before the side steps up to the professional ranks next year.

Having chosen to bat first, Glamorgan lost Daisy Jeanes early, bowled by a ball from Amy Maund that nipped back in.

But Parfitt and Warwickshire loanee Freeborn – the first of three loan players in the top order – soon settled any nerves, racing to 60 in the powerplay.

Both went on to reach half-centuries in a flurry of boundaries. Parfitt struck 10 fours and a six before top-edging Lucy Harris through to Gwen Davies, ending a stand of 118.

There was no let-up for the Worcestershire bowlers, as the third-wicket partnership of 119 came together even quicker.

Sturge smashed three sixes on her way to a third successive half-century, facing just 42 balls before Daisy Egerton – the seventh bowler used – had her bowled.

The well-travelled Freeborn, 29, went on to beat her previous score of 124 against Northamptonshire, striking 21 fours before seamer Egerton (2-47) finally found a way through her defence.

Contributions further down the order from Bethan Ellis, Bethan Gammon, and Eve Jackson – 27 not out off 16 – ensured Worcestershire would be chasing down more than seven an over.

Forced to go hard from the start, Worcestershire paid the price.

Eve Jackson and Anna Mae Shearn removed both openers, while Maddie Windeatt was run out by Gemma Porter after a risky single.

Reid then took control, bowling her full 10-over spell in one stretch and having both Amy Griffiths and Megan Bishop caught driving to snuff out any hope of a fightback.

Emily Churms made 28 and Amy Maund was unbeaten on 18 when Porter wrapped up the innings by taking the last two wickets.

Glamorgan now have three weekends off before rounding out the group stage away at Middlesex on Sunday, 6 September, with the semi-final to follow a week later.
