Rugby Stars Highlight Benefits Of Meaty Meals
A number of prominent sportspeople have been working with Welsh red meat body Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales, in its campaigns to highlight the role that beef and lamb can play in a healthy diet.
According to nutritional guidance, high protein foods such as lean red meat can play an essential role in a sportsperson’s diet, alongside other elements of balanced meals such as wholegrains and fresh vegetables.
In recent years, rugby stars such as Shane Williams, Elinor Snowsill and Dan Lydiate have all played a part in campaigns to promote Welsh Beef and Welsh Lamb.
Current Wales men’s captain Ken Owens (featured in photograph) is among a number of Scarlets players who have taken to the kitchen to produce videos showing some of the tasty beef dishes that form part of their diet.
Hybu Cig Cymru brand marketing executive Philippa Gill said,
“Red meat keeps the body topped up with essential vitamins and minerals including zinc, which supports the immune system, and iron, which gets oxygen around the body.
“It’s been great to partner with sportspeople to help get this message across and was a huge amount of fun to produce recipe videos with Ken Owens and other rugby stars!”
