Ramsey returns to Wales squad for key England and Belgium matches

Aaron Ramsey returns to Craig Bellamy’s 26-man Wales squad for their fixtures with England and Belgium this October.
Ramsey missed Wales’ matches against Kazakhstan and Canada in September, with Bellamy explaining that he had not played enough after a hamstring injury limited him to one substitute appearance in six months.
But Ramsey has since started three games and played in another two from the bench for his Mexican club side Pumas UNAM.
Bellamy is able to welcome back Leeds United pair Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon, Coventry City defender Jay Dasilva, as well as Wrexham forward Nathan Broadhead, after they all missed the Kazakhstan and Canada fixtures because of injury.
Wales face England in a friendly at Wembley on Thursday, 9 October before hosting Belgium in a World Cup qualifier at Cardiff City Stadium the following Monday.
Wales have an uphill task ahead of them to qualify for World Cup 2026 at the top of group J, with Tuesday 14th October’s clash with Belgium the decisive match in that regard.
Bellamy’s side have played a game more than their direct rivals Belgium and North Macedonia, with the former a point ahead in the group, and the latter just edging Wales on goal difference.
Whoever finishes top automatically qualifies for the finals, while the runners-up book a place in the 16-team play-offs in March.
Even if Wales finish third, they are all but guaranteed a playoff spot having won their Nations League group last year.
