Prostate Cymru Targets Sporting Hubs for 2026 Nationwide PSA Testing Tour

Prostate Cymru, the leading charity dedicated to prostate health in Wales, has officially unveiled its 2026 PSA testing schedule.
By bringing life-saving blood tests to the doorsteps of stadiums and local clubs across Wales, the charity aims to reach men in the environments where they feel most comfortable.
The 2026 tour recognises that for many Welsh men, the local sports club is the heartbeat of their community.
The initiative addresses a critical gap in men’s healthcare. With the recent campaign for a national screening programme for all-in high-risk categories being unsuccessful, Prostate Cymru’s community-led approach brings clinical testing to accessible, non-clinical environments such as rugby clubs, cricket grounds, and local businesses.
The testing clinics provide a simple, five-minute blood test that measures Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) levels.
While not a direct biopsy, it serves as a vital early warning system.
By setting up at iconic sporting landmarks, Prostate Cymru hopes to break down the barriers of “doctor’s surgery anxiety,” offering a professional and discreet service amidst the familiar backdrop of Welsh sport.
“Sport has a unique power to unite Early diagnosis is the cornerstone of our mission,” said Tina Tew, Chief Executive of Prostate Cymru.
“In Wales, the impact of prostate cancer is significant, affecting 1 in 8 men, and 1 in 3 with a family history. By entering our second year of this dedicated testing tour, we are establishing a consistent presence in the community.
“We want to normalise the conversation around prostate health and make it as easy as possible for the males of Wales to understand their risk”
The schedule spans from March to August 2026, covering a diverse geographical range including Cardiff, Llanelli, Cardigan, and Wrexham. Each event is held in conjunction with the Graham Fulford Charity Trust, experts in the field of prostate cancer awareness and testing.
This vital regional outreach is made possible through the generosity of our supporters, including Swansea Building Society, who kindly donated £15,000 to fund the testing events in Neath, Cardiff, and Carmarthen, and Radnor Hills with their ongoing support across the series.
Information on how to book a slot at your local club or stadium is available via the Prostate Cymru website.
