Prostate Cymru is bringing back The Big Walk this July – an uplifting event that blends stunning Welsh scenery, a rewarding physical challenge, and the chance to support an important cause.
Taking place over six dates – 5th, 6th, 12th, 13th, 19th, and 27th July 2025 – The Big Walks for Prostate Cymru will span some of Wales’ most iconic locations, offering routes to suit all abilities and preferences.
Over the years, The Big Walk has garnered the support of Welsh sporting heroes, with rugby legends such as Sir Gareth Edwards and Sam Warburton lending their voices to the cause, helping to raise awareness and inspire participation across the country.
On Saturday, 5th July, participants can choose between the scenic 5.5-mile Vale Circular Walk or a more demanding 13-mile trek from Neath to Kenfig Hill. The event continues on Sunday, 6th July, with the Carmarthenshire Circular Walk, an 8-mile journey through serene countryside.
The following weekend features the 6-mile Brecon Big Walk on 12th July, offering spectacular views and a rewarding route, followed by a coastal experience from Solva to St Davids on 13th July—one of Wales’ most picturesque stretches.
On 19th July, walkers will enjoy a vibrant urban route beginning at Swansea.com Stadium. This 8.1-mile walk showcases key landmarks including Swansea Arena, St Helens Rugby Ground, and concludes at Verdi’s Café.
The final event takes place on 27th July, with the Aberystwyth Big Walk—a 4.5-mile path designed to inspire and engage walkers of all ages.
Open to individuals of all fitness levels, The Big Walk offers flexibility with both guided and independent options. Participants may join one of the organised walks for £25, which includes a complimentary T-shirt, guided support, and refreshments. Alternatively, for £10, walkers can take on the challenge independently, at a time and location of their choosing throughout July.
Each registration includes a personal fundraising page to help participants share their journey and raise funds with ease.
As Wales’ leading prostate health charity, Prostate Cymru works tirelessly to raise awareness, fund research, and improve treatments for prostate diseases. The organisation supports men and their families by promoting early diagnosis, providing education, and championing access to the latest medical advances.
Every step taken during The Big Walk contributes to vital awareness and fundraising efforts in the fight against prostate cancer.
From seasoned hikers to first-time walkers, this is a unique opportunity to discover the beauty of Wales while making a meaningful impact.
