Ospreys have announced the signing of utility back Lawson Creighton, their third Australian arrival of the summer so far.

Creighton is set to join the club from New South Wales Waratahs and covers the departure of Jack Walsh, who left for French side Montauban at the end of the season.

Creighton began his Super Rugby career with the Queensland Reds, making his debut in 2021 and was awarded Rookie of the Year for his performances that season. In 2025, Creighton moved to the Waratahs where he made 26 appearances.

The 27-year-old joins Wallabies centre Lalakai Foketi and former Australia captain Liam Wright in signing for Mark Jones’ side, with lock Ryan Smith set for his second season in Swansea.

“This is a great opportunity for me to test myself in the URC and to join a team with a strong reputation of developing top quality international players,” Creighton said.

“There’s some really impressive young talent in the squad already and when I spoke to Mark (Jones), he was very clear about the project they’re trying to build and where I fit into that.

“I’m looking forward to this new chapter of my career and excited to be a part of this group of players. I already can’t wait to get started and to pull on the famous black jersey for the first time.”

“This is another excellent addition to our squad for next season,” head coach Mark Jones added.

“Lawson is a talented fly half that can dictate the speed of the game and his versatility is something that will be invaluable for us this season.

“With Dan (Edwards) on international duty with Wales and Walshy departing, it was highly important for us to strengthen our ranks at 10 and bring in someone that with the ability to compete for the starting spot, so I’m really happy that the club were able to get this one over the line.

“Similarly to some of the other players we’ve brought in, we feel Lawson’s experience in Super Rugby will be hugely beneficial to our younger backline players and will help them take their game to the next level.”
