Neirin Teifi: On the fast track

Rhodri Evans
Neirin “Nye” Teifi is on the fast track to success, literally.
The 16-year-old Penarthian is making waves in the world of motorsports, accelerating from indoor karting at the age of 12 to racing GB4 (the British equivalent for Formula 4) for the 2025 season.
With an incredible trajectory that has seen him race at Silverstone, Donington, and Anglesey, Teifi has signed for the renowned Rossoverde Scorpio team. And, this time, he’s not racing under Team GB; he’s proudly representing Wales.
From his first karting session, Teifi’s talent was undeniable. Within two months, he had earned a spot in the Castle Combe Circuit Autumn Junior Championship.
By the following year, he had tested on Silverstone’s F1 SIM, recording the third-fastest time ever, beating some of the world’s best, including Max Verstappen.
His rapid progress continued as he competed nationally in the Daniel Ricciardo Series and reached the World Karting Finals in Milan in 2023.
Teifi is also signed to Arden International, the prestigious team owned by the Horner family, known for developing F1 drivers like Sergio Perez, Carlos Sainz, and Oscar Piastri.
He trains regularly at the Young Racing Drivers Academy (YRDA) in Banbury under Steve Hutchinson, a coach with experience at Red Bull Racing, Mercedes AMG F1, and Alpine. Additionally, Teifi is mentored by former Formula 2 driver Calan Williams, who has been instrumental in shaping his career strategy.
Balancing speed with studies, Teifi is also pursuing A Levels at Radley College, where he serves as President of the F1 Society. His ambitions for 2025 are clear.
“My career expectation for the 2025 season is to make a major impact on the UK GB4 landscape,” Teifi says.
“That will pave the road to FRECA, the next step towards Formula 3 within the next 18 months.”
Representing Wales on the global stage is a key milestone for Teifi.
“I’m proud to hail from Penarth,” the 16-year-old adds.
“I will be racing for Wales, and my goal is to become one of the few Welsh drivers to reach the highest echelons of motorsports.”
To reach his full potential, Teifi and NT Racing are actively seeking sponsorship. Support at this crucial stage will provide vital funding for this season’s seven competitive races, helping him transition from karting to single seater racing.
Sponsorship offers exciting benefits, from brand promotion in the high-profile world of motorsports to exciting corporate hospitality opportunities to see Teifi race at tracks such as Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Donington.
Local businesses and investors are encouraged to get involved and back a homegrown talent with the potential to become Wales’ first Formula 1 driver since the 1970s.
If you’re interested in supporting Teifi’s journey, contact NT Racing at 03455 653 141 or mail@ntracing.co.uk.
With the right backing, Neirin Teifi could soon be flying the Welsh flag.
