Mullin Proves Fitness With Hattrick

Wrexham’s star forward Paul Mullin’s first-half hattrick provided an emphatic response to critics questioning his fitness in his side’s 4-0 home win over Accrington Stanley on Saturday.

The trio of goals was his first hattrick this calendar year and since Wrexham’s 6-0 home win against Morecambe in November.

Prior to his 93rd minute equaliser against Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday, Mullin hadn’t scored in his last seven appearances.

Mullin’s first came from a downward header into the bottom corner from a Ryan Barnett cross in the 17th minute, followed by strike from range into the opposite bottom corner eight minutes later.

His third was a classic backpost diving header from a delicious Elliot Lee cross, rising to the acclaim of the Wrexham faithful with arms outstretched.

Mullin returned the favour before halftime, finding Lee free in the box, for the midfielder to finish the rout with a composed side-foot finish.

Wrexham’s win sees them return to the automatic promotion places in League two, third and level on points with second placed Stockport County.

Next for the North Wales club is a trip to Morecambe on Saturday, and hopes will be high of Mullin continuing with his new-found rich vein of form.
