Massive boost for Wales as Harry Wilson fit for play-offs

Craig Bellamy has been given a massive boost ahead of Wales’ World Cup play-offs, with in-form attacker Harry Wilson passed fit for action.
The Fulham player has been on excellent form this season in the Premier League, scoring nine times and assisting another six goals.
Wilson has also been Wales’ most important attacking player since Bellamy was appointed head coach in August 2024.
However, the 28-year-old has missed the last two games for his club due to an ankle injury.
Wales host Bosnia-Herzegovina in their play-off semi-final on Thursday, 26 March and, if they are victorious, Craig Bellamy’s side will face Italy or Northern Ireland in Cardiff five days later for a place at this summer’s World Cup.
“I’m good,” Wilson told BBC Sport Wales. “I had a bit of a knock after the Spurs game, which took a week or so to go, but I’m back training now, so I’m hoping I’ll be good to go for Sunday and definitely good to go for the Wales games.”
Bellamy’s fluid system has been a boost for Wilson, who has scored 12 of his 17 international goals in the last three years, including five in this qualifying campaign.
He underlined his importance to the team with a hat-trick in their most recent outing, a 7-1 thrashing of North Macedonia last November which secured home advantage for Wales’ World Cup play-off semi-final.
Wilson is out of contract at Fulham at the end of the season, with reported interest from the likes of Aston Villa and Everton, with the latter having a January bid rejected for him.
“It (transfer speculation) happens when players are in good form or their contract is coming to an end,” Wilson added.
“I think that’s natural talk but I don’t try and listen to that and just try to concentrate on games. I don’t want any distractions. My job is to play football.
“The contracts and transfer talk and that comes with that, but I think I try and leave that to my agent, especially with big games coming up. That’s all I want to be focussed on.”
