Lynn: Wales ‘much improved’ against Scotland despite defeat

Wales head coach Sean Lynn has maintained that his side are improving, despite opening the 2026 Women’s Six Nations with a home defeat to Scotland.
Lynn’s side showed a strong defence and had the better of the visitors physically in the first half, going into the break 12-10 up.
Tries from forwards Sisilia Tuipulotu and Kelsey Jones were cheered on by a record crowd at the Principality Stadium.
However, two unanswered tries from Scotland saw them open up a 12-point lead over Wales. Captain Kate Williams’ late try was not enough as the home side looked to score an unlikely winning try with the clock far beyond the 80 minutes.
“The fight and the character that those girls showed at the end, to be playing phase after phase from their own try line, is what we’ve been going after,” said Lynn.
“For me it was a Test match, the improvement we’ve made from the World Cup to where we are now, you can clearly see it.
“I was super proud of them all.”
Asked what was the difference, Lynn added: “Everything is just a mind shift, we are doing everything for each other, there’s new voices coming in, new faces – and that’s players and staff.”
Wales face France at the Cardiff Arms Park next Saturday, with the visitors coming into the match having beaten Italy 40-7 in the opening round.
