Cardiff City have announced that left-back Joel Bagan has signed a new four-year contract will the club following promotion to the Championship.

The academy graduate was a key part of Brian Barry-Murphy’s side as they returned to the Championship at the first attempt in 2025-26.

Bagan’s new contract now runs until 2030, following a season where he played 52 games in all competitions.

His consistency were rewarded with an inclusion in the EFL League One Team of the Year.

“I’m delighted to be extending my stay at this Club,” Bagan said.

“I’ve been here since I was 16 and it feels like home. Last season was so special and I’m excited for what the future will bring now.

“I think it is a great time to be a Cardiff City player!”

Bagan initially joined City’s academy in 2018 as an apprentice after completing his schoolboy years with Southampton.

He made his first team debut two years later in the FA Cup against Reading. Overall, Bagan has appeared 130 times for Cardiff, scoring on four occasions.

Bagan is the second first team player to sign a contract with the club, following Perry Ng, while the club have also signed Nathan Trott on a permanent deal following a loan spell.

Midfielder Ryan Wintle has departed after five years at the capital.
