Lauren Price: ‘I am going to have at least three fights next year’
World Champion boxer Lauren Price confirms to Sportin Wales that her next fight will most likely take place in Cardiff in late February or early March.
Speaking exclusively to Sportin Wales, Price expressed her desire to fight ‘at least twice in Cardiff,’ with the welterweight World Champion also teasing a unification bout.
“I’m looking to come back to Cardiff,” Price said. “I can’t give a date, but I’m looking to come back in the new year.
“I don’t quite know myself yet, but we are looking at late February, early March.”
2025 represented a year of contrasting emotions for Price, as she cemented herself as the best boxer in her division, beating Natasha Jonas by unanimous decision to add the WBC and IBF titles to her WBA, IBO, and The Ring collection.
That victory at the Albert Hall in March meant that only one belt is left to claim for unification. American fighter Mikaela Mayer holds the WBO world title, having beaten Sandy Ryan.
However, Price has not fought since that Jonas bout and has been left frustrated by a lack of progress in her career.
“I feel like it’s a little bit frustrating, in terms of not being able to peak,” Price added.
“It was a bit of a frustrating year for myself, but it also was not my fault either. More things behind the scenes.
“I’m more confident going forward, next year, I’m going to have three fights so it’s going to be busy!”
Price was also able to give some details about her upcoming fight schedule, including a potential unification bout with Mayer.
“I’m looking to box at least twice in Cardiff next year, with another one possibly overseas,” Price confirmed.
“All I can say is I’m definitely going to have at least three fights next year.
“I’d love that [unification] fight. Whether it’s in the summer or this time next year. We’ve got have that big build-up.
“The whole of Wales is behind me, in a country that is proud and passionate about their own. I’m sure we could fill a stadium and get fans out for a fight.”
Price has been adamant that she wants to bring big boxing nights back to her hometown of Cardiff, having not fought their since her fight world title fight with Jessica McCaskill in 2024.
With the legacy that the likes of Joe Calzaghe and Joe Cordina have left, she is looking to add her name to the Welsh boxing hall of fame.
“There’s nothing like fighting in front of your own fans,” Price said. “It’s just special.
“A lot of my career now is about the legacy I want to leave. Bringing big time boxing back to Cardiff, letting younger Welsh boys and girls on the end of the card have their nights to shine, that’s great.
“We’re a small nation, but a proud nation. When there’s a sporting event on, boxing or the Six Nations, you see the fans come out. It’s really special.”
