Glamorgan through in Counties Cup with 11-run victory over Devon

Beth Gammon scored 60 not out as Glamorgan beat Devon by 11 runs to go through to the second round of the T20 Counties Cup.

Gammon’s knock anchored the first innings in Newport, with Third Tier side Devon picking up regular wickets to keep Glamorgan from making a big score.

Following the early loss of Lauren Parfitt, Daisy Jeanes and Gammon steadied the ship before Devon broke the game open in a period that saw four wickets fall for just seven runs in 21 balls.

Gammon rebuilt alongside Gemma Porter, who arrived fresh from a half‑century in Wednesday’s dramatic two‑run win over Hampshire Seconds, capitalising on loose deliveries to lift Glamorgan beyond a run‑a‑ball to 140.

Devon started well with the bat, reaching 69-2 and then 87-3, but the run rate got away from them as economical spells from Katy Cobb and Jazz Westley tightened the screw.

On her first appearance of the season, Cobb removed both openers on her way to 2 for 18, before Poppy Walker, celebrating her 18th birthday, continued her impressive wicket‑taking form with 2 for 30.

The win sends Glamorgan into round two, where they will travel to face another Tier Three opponent, Berkshire, on 17 May.
