Glamorgan in charge as rain threatens chances of result

Wickets for Tom Norton and runs for Colin Ingram on day three have put Glamorgan in a strong position ahead of the final day against Warwickshire at Edgbaston.

For much of the third day, it was Ethan Bamber versus Glamorgan, as the bowler proved stubborn with the bat, before taking the first four wickets in the visitor’s second innings.

Starting the day on 123-6, Australian Ashes winner Beau Webster was quickly dismissed by teenager Tom Norton, before Bamber and fellow bowling all-rounder Jordan Thompson put on 79 for the eighth wicket.

Bamber was eventually removed by Ben Kellaway’s tweakers, while Norton took the final two wickets to end with 4-48.

With a lead of 108 runs, Glamorgan looked to stamp their authority on the match, but were pegged back by Bamber.

The seamer removed both Zain-ul-Hassan and Kiran Carlson for ducks in the seventh over, before Asa Tribe nicked another Bamber pearl to Sam Hain in the slips.

Kellaway made a stylish 42 to add to his first innings hundred before Bamber again provided the breakthrough.

Sean Dickson, one of the heroes from last week, alongside Colin Ingram put on 83 for the fifth wicket before Ed Barnard removed him leg before.

Ingram accumulated nicely for 80 not out at the end of the day.

With rain forecast for day four, it remains to be seen whether Glamorgan can force a result.

Leading by 300, they may have a chance.
