Glamorgan Cricket reports 16% rise in Vitality Blast sales

Glamorgan Cricket has reported a 16% year-on-year increase in Vitality Blast sales, reflecting growing demand for short-format cricket at Sophia Gardens.

The growth comes despite a competitive UK cricket market and a crowded summer events calendar in Cardiff, where live sport, music and cultural events compete for audiences.

The club said the figures demonstrate the increasing appeal of Vitality Blast as an accessible matchday experience for families, groups, businesses and regular supporters.

Sophia Gardens hosts six Vitality Blast home fixtures each summer, with the competition combining fast-paced cricket with food, entertainment and live music.

The increase in Blast sales comes as attendance across cricket at Sophia Gardens continues to grow.

Welsh Fire attracted its first sell-out crowd in Cardiff for the men’s team’s opening home fixture of this season’s The Hundred, while women’s matches in both the Vitality Blast and The Hundred have recorded their highest attendances to date, reflecting rising interest in the women’s game in Wales.

“We’re really pleased with the growth in Blast sales,” Ed Rice, Commercial Director at Glamorgan Cricket, said.

“It has taken a huge amount of effort from our marketing team to increase awareness of cricket here in Wales, but these growth stats show that more people are engaging with the sport.

“We’re excited to build on that momentum and drive this further in the coming years.”
