Yahya Bamba – former member of London rap group Harlem Spartans – has signed for Newport County.

Bamba has signed for Newport from non-league side Forest Green Rovers, having gone on loan to Brackley Town in January.

Brackley were relegated from the National League at the end of last season.

The 27-year-old forward  joined Forest Green last summer after scoring 11 goals in 50 appearances for Eastbourne Borough.

Bamba’s arrival follows that of fellow forward Shaquille Gwengwe from Southern League Premier Division South side Poole Town.

Bamba – performing under the stage name Naghz Max or Madmax – used to be part of the British hip-hop collective Harlem Spartans.

The group’s music has had more than 100 million streams and are from Kennington, south London.

The new recruit, who is able to operate across the front three, told the Exiles website: “I’m a very direct player. I love one-v-one situations, very pacey, and I like to get fans off their seats.”

“It’s a new adventure for me. I’ve never played in League Two before, so I’m ready to showcase what I’m about and help the team progress.

“I’m very delighted to be here. Can’t wait to go play at Rodney Parade and showcase what I’m about.”
