The Football Association of Wales (FAW) have unveiled a retro Wales shirt, celebrating the organisation’s 150th anniversary.
The FAW was formed on February 2nd 1876, becoming only the third football association in the world to be established following a meeting at the Wynnstay Arms Hotel in Wrexham.
In a statement on the FAW website, the Association says that the jersey “pays homage to the iconic kits that have defined Welsh football across generations.”
“Designed with a slim fit and knit construction, the jersey offers a sleek silhouette built for on-field performance, while retaining a clean, heritage-inspired aesthetic. More than a kit, it represents a shared footballing identity, worn by players and supporters alike over a century and a half of history.
“The Cymru 150th Anniversary Jersey stands as a symbol of pride, continuity and belonging, celebrating the enduring connection between Welsh football, its communities and Y Wal Goch.
“As the FAW marks its 150th anniversary, this jersey reflects the journey of the game in Wales, from its earliest beginnings to the modern era, united by the red shirt that continues to carry the nation’s hopes and ambitions.”
