Dragons RFC have announced that hooker Oli Burrows has signed a new contract with the region.
Burrows has had a breakout campaign this season, playing 12 times in all competitions and scoring five tries.
The former Wales U20s international made his Dragons debut against Leinster in September 2024, having previously appeared for Exeter Chiefs and Cornish Pirates.
Neath-born Burrows, 23, is the seventh player to sign a new deal with the club, following the likes of Angus O’Brien, Che Hope, Brodie Coghlan, Rio Dyer, Chris Coleman and David Richards.
“It’s been enjoyable to be a part of the progress that we’ve made this season as a group and the opportunity to continue to be a part of it is something that is exciting,” Burrows said.
“This season has been great for me on a personal level. It’s been nice to get some minutes and string performances together, after having a bit of a layoff last season.
“As a team, we’re determined to build on the successes we’ve worked hard for this season, while I want to use this season as a springboard to kick on in the coming years by continuing to work hard and improving.
“There’s a good group of hookers here and we’re always pushing each other, so it is an exciting time to be at the Dragons.”
“Oli has had an excellent season for us,” senior coach Sam Hobbs said.
“He came back from his injury at the start of the year, worked hard to get back in good shape and he’s a physically impressive man.
“In many of his performances he has showcased his potential, whether that is ball carrying or his set piece, which has been excellent as well.
“Oli took an opportunity in the middle of the season when we had some players missing and really fronted up for us in some tough games.
“He’s got a very high ceiling and huge potential. We think he can play URC and beyond into international rugby.
“If he can stay injury free, has another good summer and end to this season, then we can look forward to seeing him hit that potential and develop further.”
