Cardiff Devils have announced the signing of the son of club legend Vezio Sacratini, Jake Sacratini, ahead of the 2026/2027 season.

Vezio Sacratini played for the Devils for 8 seasons starting back in 1996-97.

Son Jake has just completed his amateur career in the NCAA by leading his team in scoring, finishing with 11 goals and 14 assists for 25 points in 26 games for SUNY-Plattsburgh.  He played two years at SUNY-Plattsburgh and 2 years before that at the American International College.

More recently, Sacratini played for Team GB at the IIHF Ultimate Hockey 3on3 tournament in Austria, where he helped Great Britain win silver.

The 25-year-old was born in Cardiff in 2001 during his father’s time playing for the Devils.  He started playing hockey in the Junior Devils programme before returning to Canada when Vezio retired.

He is classified by Ice Hockey UK as a British player, so he is not an import in the Elite League.

“Jake comes off two good offensive years in college, leading his team in goals and points last season,” head coach Paul Thompson said.

“We have been actively looking to enhance our already talented British player pool and we are delighted to have secured Jake’s services.

“Being a Cardiff boy, born right here in Wales, we look forward to Jake putting on the jersey that his father, Vezio, starred in and wore many times for the Devils.”

Sacratini will wear number 28, just like his father did for the Devils.
