Defensive duo Davies and Roberts back for Wales summer friendlies

Rhodri Evans

Wales head coach Craig Bellamy has announced his 26-player squad for his side’s summer friendlies with Ghana and Romania.

Key defenders Ben Davies and Connor Roberts return, having missed the last two camps through injuries.

Bellamy has chosen not to pick an uncapped player in his squad, but young talents such as Dylan Lawlor, Ronan Kpakio, Joel Colwill, Kai Andrews, and Lewis Koumas are all included.

Jordan James, Liam Cullen, Mark Harris and Rubin Colwill all miss out with minor knocks.

The matches will see Craig Bellamy’s side begin preparations for the upcoming UEFA Nations League campaign in the autumn. Cymru will be in League A and will face some of Europe’s strongest teams in Portugal, Norway and Denmark.

The game against Ghana will be the first time the two sides face each other, and the first time an African country has played a senior men’s international in Wales.

The match against Romania in Bucharest will be the first time both sides have met since 1993 and will be Gheorghe Hagi’s first home match in charge of his country.
