Defenceman Oligny signs new two-year deal with Cardiff Devils

Cardiff Devils have announced that defenceman Jimmy Oligny has signed a new two-year deal to stay with the club.
The 33-year-old Canadian had an impressive first season in Cardiff, scoring 7 goals and 25 assists for 32 points in 68 games. He also led the team in penalty minutes with 116 in all games.
Oligny was one of only 4 Devils to play all 68 games in 2025-26 and he was voted onto the EIHL’s Second All-Star Team at the end of the season by the coaches and general managers in the Elite Ice Hockey League.
He also picked up the team’s Defenceman of the Year at the Annual Awards Night.
Before joining the Devils, Oligny split the 2024-25 season between HKM Sloven in Slovakia and Austrian side Graz 99ers in the IceHL.
Prior to coming to Europe, he played 6 seasons for the Manitoba Moose in the American Hockey League, the top affiliate of the NHL’s Winnipeg Jets. Oligny captained the Moose his last 3 seasons in Manitoba.
Oligny played the final 3 weeks of the season with a broken thumb but did not miss any games.
He was also injured in the third period of the Playoff Championship game when he was run into an open penalty box door, but he is back to full strength and looking forward to the 2026-27 season.
The 2026 Playoff title was the first championship of his professional career, and he is hungry for more.
