Cymru to play Romania in summer friendly

Cymru will travel to Bucharest on June 6 to face Romania in a friendly in Bucharest.
Wales travel to Romania – who have also failed to qualify for this summer’s FIFA World Cup – and play at the 31,000-seater Steaua Stadium in Bucharest.
This match comes four days after Cymru welcomes Ghana to the Cardiff City Stadium.
The last time these two sides met was the infamous 1994 World Cup qualifier in Cardiff, where Paul Bodin’s penalty miss for Wales saw the Romanian side reach the tournament.
In the same qualifying campaign Wales lost 5-1 at the Steaua Stadium in May 1992.
Announcing the fixture, the Football Association of Wales (FAW) paid tribute to the legendary former Romania boss Mircea Lucescu, who died last week.
“The Football Association of Wales sends its condolences to Lucescu’s family, friends and everyone at the Romanian Football Federation,” the FAW said.
Following the June international break, Cymru will begin their UEFA Nations League A campaign in the autumn, taking on Portugal, Denmark, and Norway in September, October, and November.
The FAW are set to announce ticketing information for the Romania fixture in due course.
