Glamorgan leg-spinner Mason Crane has been called up to the England Lions squad alongside teammate and batter Asa Tribe.

Crane last played for England in his single test cap in 2018, having previously played two T20s the summer prior.

The 29-year-old has been on excellent form since joining Glamorgan, and is currently the second leading wicket taker among spinners in the County Championship Division One.

He joins Lions regular Asa Tribe in the squad, who scored another eye-catching hundred against South Africa in the four-day defeat last week.

Crane and Tribe will join the Lions after Glamorgan’s T20 Blast match at Somerset, missing the county’s matches at Worcestershire and Lancashire before rejoining the squad for the Championship trip to Sussex on 11 June.

Tribe is one of six players in the squad who were a part of the four-day games, with the other being Henry Crocombe, Eddie Jack, Ben Mayes, Ben McKinney, and Dan Mousley.

Rehan Ahmed and James Rew join from the England Test squad with the former in line to play in front of his home fans at Leicester in the series opener.

England play three one-day matches against South Africa, with the latter two hosted by Worcestershire at New Road.
