Cardiff City youngster Robert Tankiewicz has penned a first professional contract with the club on his 17th birthday.

The deal will take effect from July 1st, 2026, and is celebrating his 17th birthday on Friday 12th June

Tankiewicz, a talented playmaker, joined City at U9 level and made his first team debut in a Vertu Trophy fixture against Newport County in October 2025 to become Cardiff’s youngest ever player, passing on that record in the same evening.

A league debut followed in April 2026, coming in a 5-1 victory over Northampton Town.

The attack-minded midfielder, who can also operate out wide, also boasts international experience, most recently representing Wales at U19 level.

“It’s not a bad birthday!” Tankiewicz said.

“I’m over the moon to sign my first contract and remain at the Club. I’ve been here since U9s, so going into this season I’m definitely very excited and looking forward the campaign ahead.

“A massive thank you to the fans. All the support has been massively appreciated. I’m definitely looking forward to showing what I’m capable of. It’s a great time to be at the Club, especially with the manager. I hope I excite the fans more this season and show what I’m about.

“It’s been a long journey but through every coach and every staff member I’ve worked with, they’ve all given me plenty of support and I’m very grateful for all the opportunities and for the development, to push me and give me exposure.”
