Cardiff International White Water: Add a dose of adrenaline to your next event!

Rhodri Evans
As Cardiff International White Water (CIWW) celebrates its 16th year this March, it has firmly established itself as a top business and leisure destination in Wales.
Famous for its on-demand white water course, the award-winning venue delivers a variety of activities – from world class rescue training for the emergency services to adventure filled family days out on the rapids.
However, with their newly refurbished meeting space, it’s also attracting businesses that are looking for unique ways to get their teams out of the office. Whether it’s for a meeting or workshop, the new meeting space allows delegates to deliver their corporate event first and then enjoy an informal team building experience afterwards on the water.
Here Are 5 Reasons Why CIWW Is The Perfect Venue For Your Next Meeting And Team Building Event…
1. Adrenaline fuelled adventure
Whether you are a water sports novice or expert, CIWW has something for all skill levels, but their premium product has to be White Water Rafting.
The two-hour coached session on the Olympic standard course is action-packed from start to finish. With 6 people in each raft, and its blend of fun on the water and collaboration to navigate the course, it’s the perfect mix for team bonding.
Not sure if you are ready to take on the rapids? Ask about the lower water level, or the variety of flat-water activities.
2. A room with a view
NEW this year, the Wye Room has been refurbished so that it has everything that you need to deliver a successful meeting or event. Located on the first floor, with views from the balcony over the white-water course and marina, it has a unique feel.
The flexible area can be divided into two meeting rooms or transformed into one larger space. So, whether you need a small boardroom, a theatre style venue, or an event space for networking, it can host up to 80 delegates.
Open 7 days a week, full and half day rates are available.
3. It’s a different type of ‘board’ room
The Indoor Wave room was built as part of the second development phase. It boasts a FlowRider® machine where visitors can take part in Bodyboarding or Surfing on a slimmer, longer board.
The machine sprays jets of water that creates a wave for the riders, plus it can be used whatever the weather as it’s indoors! The one-and- half hour coached session can be tailored for all levels, and host groups of up to 10 people.
It can also be transformed into a unique theatre and events space, with the machine as the backdrop.
4. Creative catering opportunities
With an onsite catering partner, a variety drinks and tasty snacks can be ordered direct. Or looking for something different?
The centre works with a range of local catering businesses that allows them to offer everything from breakfast pastries that can be enjoyed on the balcony, to banquet style dinners in the Wye Room, or Street Food vendors and BBQs on the waterside.
5. A sporting location
Located just a few miles from the city centre, CIWW forms part of the International Sports Village, where it’s easily accessible by public transport and offers free parking.
Want to extend your visit? Neighbouring venues include Vindico Arena, home of the Cardiff Devils the hockey team, Fun HQ climbing centre and the International Swimming Pool.
Looking from memorable & custom experiences beyond rafting and surfing, you can get the adrenaline pumping in the CIWW flat water pool with kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding, or take part in their offsite gorge walking sessions.
