Cardiff Devils have added Finnish forward Panu Mieho to their squad as three more also re-sign for the 2026-27 Elite League (EIHL) campaign.

Mieho has spent the majority of his professional career playing in the top league in Finland for two of the best teams in HIFK and Ilves.

He signed in the Swedish Elite League as an import for two seasons between 2022 and 2024 before returning to HIFK where he has played the last two years.

Devils says that Mieho’s speed is what attracted head coach Paul Thompson to him and his style of play will “fit nicely into our system.”

The signing, alongside three re-signing announcements, were made at the Cardiff Devils’ annual ‘Devils Summit’ from Calgary, Canada where the ownership group are based.

They were joined by some Devils staff as well as two returning players, one already announced – Ryan Barrow – and one that was announced on the day – Tyson Helgesen.

Along with Helgesen, the Devils also confirmed the return of all-star defenceman Brandon Estes and forward Nolan Yaremko.

With Helgesen, the Devils keep the 6’3”, 15 stone defenceman that became a huge fan favourite in 2025-26, his first season in Cardiff.

He had established himself as one of the league’s best penalty killers during his first campaign.

Brandon Estes led all Devils’ defenceman in points last season, scoring 11 goals and 44 assists for 55 points. He played in all 68 games and led the team in ice time, averaging over 25 minutes a game.

He was voted onto the Elite League’s First Team All-Star at the end of the season, chosen by coaches and GMs from across the league.

Nolan Yaremko returns for his second season as a Devil after an injury plagued season that saw him miss 40 of the 54 league games. He finally returned to the lineup late in the season and was back in top form just in time for the playoffs.

The 28-year-old Canadian forward scored twice in the playoff final game, both in the dying minutes of the second period, only one minute and 25 seconds apart to give the Devils a 3-1 lead going into the final period.
