Cardiff Devils have announced that they have re-signed Canadian forward Kristoff Kontos for the 2026/27 season.

Kontos led the Devils in scoring last season, finishing with 21 goals and 45 assists for 66 points in 66 games in all competitions.

The 32-year-old finished fourth in overall points in the Elite League last season with 53 points – 17 goals and 36 assists – in 52 games.

His 36 assists were the second most in the league.

Before joining the Devils, Kontos played one season for the Nottingham Panthers where he put up 62 points (20 goals and 42 assists) in 67 games.

Kontos won his second straight Playoff Championship in April 2026 after winning it the previous season with the Panthers.

Kontos finished his amateur career by completing four years at St Francis Xavier University.  He moved to France for his first year of professional hockey, signing with Gap for the 2018-19 season.

He then spent 4 of the next 5 years in Sweden with one year in Slovakia before making the move to the UK to play for Nottingham.

A highly skilled offensive player, Kontos is one of the best playmakers in the league.  He put together a 13-game point streak throughout March and into April.  He also had 15 multi-point games in 2025-26.

“I’m delighted Kristoff is back with us for the season ahead,” head coach Paul Thompson said. “His vision and playmaking ability is elite.

“He is sometimes overlooked from a goal scoring point of view, in which he was really productive with us scoring big timely goals last season.

“A great teammate who led our team in scoring and we will be leaning on him, thankfully once again.”
