Cardiff Devils have announced the appointment of Jeff Battah as the club’s new goaltending and video coach.

Battah brings a wide-ranging coaching background across professional, major junior, university, and international hockey.

He has coached professionally in Europe since 2017, with experience in Austria, Hungary, the United Kingdom, and France, and has also worked extensively in Canada across the WHL, BCHL, OJHL, and university levels.

In his new role with the Devils, Battah will support the coaching staff through game preparation, video review, opponent analysis, and goaltender development.

He replaces his close friend Euan King who left the Devils earlier this off-season to move to the Ice Hockey UK Foundation. King recommended Battah to the Devils.

Battah’s international experience includes work with Hockey Canada and Team GB, including a bronze medal with Great Britain Under-20s at the 2024 World Championships. He has also been part of the Canadian junior national programme staffs.

Battah most recently worked with Rapaces de Gap in France’s Ligue Magnus, the team that the Devils hosted in pre-season action at the start of the 2025-26 season. He previously coached in the Elite League with the Glasgow Clan during the 2023-24 season.

“We are pleased to welcome Jeff as our new goaltending coach,” said head coach Paul Thompson.

“With Euan King moving on, we asked Euan to very much be a part of helping us recruit someone in this specialised position. Thankfully, he recommended us Jeff.

“After a series of interviews with myself and Todd, we are very pleased to add him to our coaching staff.

“We recently flew Jeff and Niklas over to Cardiff to lay plans down for the upcoming season and to welcome Jeff to the club so he could get a good feel before we start in August.”
