Now registered as Charity Number 1215329, Cricket Wales is calling on the business community to partner in delivering measurable social impact and breaking down barriers to sport across Wales.

Cricket Wales has taken the bold stance to become a charity. Approval from the Charity Commission was gained in October 2025 and now Cricket Wales has become a charity limited by guarantee.

This milestone strengthens Cricket Wales’ position as a purpose-driven organisation, one committed to using cricket as a force for good, creating opportunities, and delivering genuine social value across Welsh communities.

With Glamorgan Cricket taking most of the pathway and talent identification work, this allows Cricket Wales to position itself as a body that nurtures its affiliated clubs and organisations so that our community game flourishes.

Additionally, this means that Cricket Wales will look to build on the work it is going in breaking down barriers to access cricket from underserved areas, getting gender parity, support people with disability, connecting further into ethnically diverse communities and addressing the disparity of opportunity to pick up a bat and ball across the many schools in Wales.

“This is central to our strategy of Criced a Sport for All,” Cricket Wales CEO, Barry Cawte said.

“This is our bold, collective step forward. It is built on the firm belief that Criced can and must become a truly inclusive, sustainable, and thriving sport in every corner of Wales.

“It reflects the voices of our people, the needs of our communities, and the unwavering values we hold dear: Together, Lead, Care.”

“We want to increase our visibility within the business sector and having this status gives a clear sign of how we can align the work of Cricket Wales in supporting communities across Wales with businesses’ social value work, social responsibility projects, and profile across Wales.” Cricket Wales Partnership Manager, Mark Frost added.

“A number of companies have already signed up to the momentum of progress in partnership with Cricket Wales as affiliate partners. This means we will be advocating their services to all of our clubs when they are ready to invest.

“Once people find out what we do, lots of businesses have shown interest to talk about developing a partnership.”
