New BYD Hybrid the SEAL 6 DM-i Lands in Wales

By now, most drivers in the UK have heard of BYD, the fast-growing new market entrant that has been shaking up the motoring world with competitive price points, high-spec models as standard, and its now-iconic rotating touchscreen infotainment system.

With the UK showing a strong appetite for hybrid vehicles, proven by the performance of BYD’s first UK hybrid, the SEAL U DM-i, the brand has responded by introducing its second hybrid model to the UK: the new BYD SEAL 6 DM-i.

The model has now arrived at Sinclair BYD in Cardiff, Bridgend and Swansea, creating significant interest among customers.

A Hybrid That Goes the Distance

The SEAL 6 DM-i features BYD’s ‘Super Hybrid DM-i technology’, appearing for the first time in a UK BYD saloon and estate model. Key figures include up to 935 miles of total range in the saloon and up to 65 miles of pure-electric city driving, depending on grade.

Many drivers will complete their daily journeys entirely on electric power, with the petrol engine available for longer trips. It is a practical hybrid setup designed for real-world driving.

Saloon or Touring? Two Flavours, One Strong Package

BYD provides customers with two choices:

  • Saloon: A sleek, refined option designed for comfort and long-distance efficiency.
  • Estate: BYD’s first estate to launch in Europe. It features a practical 500-litre boot that expands to 1,535 litres when the rear seats are folded, making it ideal for families, cyclists, dog owners and those with active lifestyles.

Strong Spec as Standard (as Always with BYD)

Across both trim levels – Boost and Comfort – the SEAL 6 DM-i continues BYD’s reputation for giving customers a lot of tech without forcing them into expensive upgrades. Highlights include:

  • A large central touchscreen (12.8 or rotating 15.6 inches)
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Vegan leather interior
  • Smartphone key access

Comfort grade adds a few more premium touches like heated and ventilated seats, a panoramic roof and a 360-degree camera.

Pricing starts at £33,990 for the saloon and £34,990 for the estate – extremely competitive for the level of technology included.

An Exciting New Offering for South Wales

Last weekend, Sinclair BYD welcomed customers across all three sites in Cardiff, Bridgend and Swansea – for the SEAL 6 DM-i’s first-ever public showcase in Wales.

The model drew in existing BYD drivers, curious hybrid shoppers, and tech-focused motorists eager to see the brand’s next big step. And with stock now available across all three dealerships, customers are already booking appointments to get behind the wheel.

A Significant Milestone for BYD in the UK

The arrival of the SEAL 6 DM-i is more than just a new product launch, it’s another milestone in BYD’s rapidly expanding footprint across the UK market.

With a second hybrid now joining the range, BYD is clearly positioning itself as a serious contender for drivers who want next-generation tech, outstanding range, and smart pricing.
