Craig Bellamy has been dealt another setback on the coaching front, with James Rowberry stepping down from his part-time role with Wales to focus fully on his job as Stoke City assistant manager.

Rowberry told the Football Association of Wales of his decision to walk away from the position earlier this summer.

The 41-year-old had been juggling both roles since joining the Potters in January 2025, where he serves as one of two assistants to manager Mark Robins.

His exit follows closely on the heels of another big departure from Bellamy’s camp: assistant Piet Cremers left the set-up at the start of July, though that news has only come to light now.

Cremers, brought in by Bellamy as one of his first appointments after taking the Wales job in 2024, moved on to take charge of Club NXT, the youth academy side of Club Brugge who compete in Belgium’s second tier.

It’s understood the FAW is getting closer to filling the void left by Cremers and Rowberry, although whether one or two fresh faces join the backroom team remains to be seen.

Wales open their Group A Nations League campaign with a testing trip to Portugal on 24 September, before heading to Denmark three days later.

Ahead of those fixtures, Bellamy will face the media for the first time since his move to become Burnley boss collapsed in June, after he was unable to bring his coaching staff with him to Turf Moor.
