Audi accelerates into Sinclair showrooms for 2025
2025 is a year of plenty for Audi with the brand accelerating its new model offensive with a host of exciting range additions.
Just landed at Sinclair Audi showrooms in Bridgend, Swansea and Neyland are Q5 and SQ5 SUV and Sportback models that have been generating considerable interest thanks to their winning combination of space and style.
In parallel with its rollout of fully electric vehicles, Audi is continuing to intensively develop core combustion engine models with the new Q5 at the forefront.
One of the most popular SUVs in the midsize-segment in Europe for more than 15 years, the latest generation of the bestseller will ensure that the Q5 will lose none of its lustre – in fact with an enhanced look and extensive specification, it seems destined to win even more admirers.
The latest addition to the highly successful Audi SUV stable is the first to be based on the new Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture. It underpins its impactful new look with powerful petrol and diesel engines that are now even more economical thanks to MHEV plus technology, and an array of technological advances driven by a sophisticated, new electronics platform.
Supporting three new generation engines – a 2.0 TFSI and a 2.0 TDI, both delivering 204PS in the Q5, and a V6 TFSI which reserves its 367PS solely for the SQ5 – this technology delivers exceptional exhilaration and efficiency that is channelled via a seven-speed S tronic transmission and quattro all-wheel-drive.
The new 48 volt-based MHEV plus system supports the engine and reduces CO2 emissions whilst simultaneously boosting performance and driving comfort. It combines an advanced lithium-ion battery with a powertrain generator (PTG), which can contribute up to 230Nm of additional torque and up to 24PS of supplementary power for short periods.
When decelerating, the PTG recuperates up to 25 kW of energy and feeds this back into the battery, helping to minimise the load on the engine and reduce fuel consumption and emissions. It also enables a degree of purely electric driving for manoeuvring and parking.
The Premium Platform Combustion makes provision for a more extensively electrified plug-in hybrid drivetrain to be introduced at a later date.
Complementing its pleasing performance, the third-generation Q5 displays even more sharply defined lines and balanced proportions that lend it an unmistakably premium look.
Its more sporting stance is accentuated by features such as the more prominent frontal air curtains and air intake, the rising line above the sills complemented by pronounced ‘quattro blisters’, the distinctive inset ‘island’ diffuser in the rear bumper and the sculpted rear light strip which spans the entire width of the car.
Inside occupants will feel enveloped in luxury materials and fabrics, thanks partly to details like the new ‘Softwrap’ extending from the doors across the entire cockpit to the centre console.
They can also take comfort in the exceptional navigation and infotainment technology at their fingertips, primarily via the new ‘Digital Stage’, a curved, free-standing OLED panoramic MMI display integrating an 11.9-inch Audi virtual cockpit and a 14.5-inch MMI touch screen.
All models also integrate headline features including a new app store giving access to a wide range of popular third-party apps, and the Audi Assistant, a self-learning and AI-supported digital voice assistant capable of recognising more than 800 voice commands.
The new Q5 is available in Sport, S line and Edition 1 specification options, while the top-tier SQ5 is equipped exclusively with an S-specific version of the Edition 1 package. Amongst the many highlights are a new safety feature on S line versions that is appearing for the very first time in a series production Audi built for the European market.
A new projection light in the spoiler above the rear window projects a graphic into the upper rear window, enlarging the brake light area and alerting following drivers to deceleration. It is also activated as part of the Coming Home and Leaving Home lighting function that is a standard feature across the range.
Over and above the S line specifications, owners opting for the Edition 1 package will be able to heighten their Q5’s appearance with larger 21-inch Audi Sport alloy wheels framing red brake calipers, and also to Matrix LED lighting integrating active digital light signatures.
In addition to enhanced sports seats, infotainment capability is taken to greater heights by an additional 10.9-inch MMI front passenger display housed within the dashboard. Operating independently of the curved MMI display, this enables front seat passengers to stream content and use infotainment and navigation features without distracting the driver.
Meanwhile the step up to the SQ5 Edition 1 specification starts externally with an S-specific styling treatment, plus the integration of digital OLED rear lights. These offer a range of driver-selectable active digital light signatures.
Interior additions on the flagship SQ5 include a Bang & Olufsen 3D premium sound system, a panoramic roof, and upholstery in diamond-stitched Fine Nappa leather – the front seats also gaining ventilation and massage functions, and the outer rear seats can be heated, as can the steering wheel.
Adopting the appealing attributes of its SUV sibling, the sleek new Q5 Sportback also delivers both style and substance. With its progressive and dynamic coupe-like silhouette, it will entice design-savvy drivers who also desire the versatility and space benefits of an SUV.
Exuding sportiness with its characteristic, sloping rear and elegant lines, the new Sportback is supremely accommodating too.
It boasts a luggage capacity of up to 515 litres or up to 470 litres in the SQ5 Sportback or, with the second row of seats folded down, the storage space increases to up to 1,415 litres or 1,388 litres respectively. Towing capacity is up to 2,400kg.
