Asa Tribe signs new three-year deal with Glamorgan following England Lions tour

Glamorgan batter Asa Tribe has signed a new and improved three-year deal with the County following a successful tour of Australia with the England Lions.

Tribe initially signed a one-year contract, lasting until the end of the 2026 season, in the summer, but has now extended that deal.

The Jersey-born batter signed for Glamorgan as a rookie in 2023, with last season proving to be a breakout year for Tribe.

He enjoyed a breakthrough 2025 with the bat, including a commendable debut season in the T20 Blast, back-to-back centuries in the One-Day Cup and a maiden double century in First-Class cricket at Northampton during the Club’s successful promotion drive to Division One in the County Championship.

Tribe’s contribution was duly recognised as he won the 2025 Men’s Young Player of the Year Award, while also being shortlisted for the PCA Young Player of the Year Award.

In September, Tribe was picked up in the SA20 auction by the Paarl Royals for matches in January and February 2026. This was quickly followed with International honours, as along with Ben Kellaway, Tribe was selected to join the England Lions tour in Australia.

Scoring 53 not out against the Australia PM XI in Canberra, he stood out again in the Lions’ second innings against Australia A in Brisbane. In making an unbeaten 129, he joined an exclusive club of Glamorgan batters to have struck centuries on foreign soil for England’s second string.

“I’m really happy to commit to Glamorgan for the long-term and excited for next season in Division One with the Club,” Tribe said.

“The last two seasons have flown by, but I know Sophia Gardens is the best place for me to continue developing as a player.

“The Club has fully supported me since I joined in 2023, and I want to reward that with my contributions on the pitch. We all know that there’s a lot of work to do if we want to stay in the First Division and to push on in the Vitality Blast, but we’re excited by the challenge.

“I’ll definitely do all I can to play my part.”

“Asa is one of the most talented young players in the country, and we’re absolutely delighted he has committed to Glamorgan for the next three years,” Mark Wallace, Glamorgan Director of Cricket, added.

“His rate of improvement over the last few years at the Club is a reflection of his skill, character and appetite to succeed. This contract reflects both his high potential and the important role we see him playing in the future of the Club.”
