Wales women secured third place in the Tik Tok Six Nations for the second year in a row, securing their place in World Rugby’s brand-new competition WXV1.

World Rugby’s brand-new tournament will feature six of the top teams from the Women’s Six Nations and a cross-regional tournament featuring USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Ioan Cunningham’s side scored five tries in their 36-10 victory over Italy in Parma, marking the first time since 2009 that Wales have won three matches in the tournament. Defeating Ireland, Scotland, and Italy on their way to third place in the Championship.

The Welsh side made a strong start to the game, with Kira Bevan opening the scoring and Bethan Lewis adding another early try to give Wales a 10-0 lead.

Italy responded with a try from Veronica Madia, followed by a conversion from Michela Sillari to level the score. However, Wales’ Sisilia Tuipulotu powered her way over the line to give her team the lead before half-time.

Cunningham’s side continued their dominance in the second half, extending their lead with a try from Sioned Harris. Alex Callander’s finished off a stunning try, combined with Elinor Snowsill and Carys Williams-Morris, to earn Wales their bonus point score.

Kerin Lake finished things off for Wales by winning the foot race to Ffion Lewis’ chip, sealing a stunning 36-10 away from home against a resilient Italian side.

Despite a massive crowd of 13,077 cheering them on, the Scarlets fell to defeat in their Challenge Cup semi-final.

They led 14-7 at half-time, thanks to a try from Steff Evans and three penalties from Sam Costelow. However, Glasgow Warriors capitalized on the Scarlets’ errors with a brilliant second-half performance, securing a 35-17 win at Parc Y Scarlets.

Stafford McDowall’s two try performance helped Glasgow Warriors to book their place in the Challenge Cup final in Dublin on May 19.

The Warriors opened the scoring with a stunning try through McDowall. It was a tough opening period for the Scarlets who fought back with two penalties from Costelow and a try from Evans, helping them into a lead of 14-7 at half-time.

Unfortunately, the Scarlets lost four key players to injury in the opening 50 minutes of the game. Glasgow took full advantage of this and began to take control of the game, scoring tries through George Horne, Johnny Matthews, and Rory Darge before the hour mark.

Despite the Scarlets’ efforts to close the deficit, their inaccuracy in the final third cost them the game, and McDowall’s late try sealed the win for Glasgow Warriors.

Cardiff RFC secured a tight 18-13 victory over Ebbw Vale to move to the top of the Indigo Premiership. However, they had to use all their experience to overcome a tough Ebbw Vale side at the Ciner Glass Community Stadium.

Meanwhile, RGC consolidated their seventh-place finish with a bonus point 24-10 victory against Swansea.
