Wales C kicked off the international action this week, as they took on England C. The rivalry between the two nations has become a yearly fixture, providing a test between combined 11’s from Wales’ Cymru Premiership and England’s non-leagues.

Unfortunately, Wales C were unable to back up last years’ 4-0 win at the Oval in Caernarfon last year, as they fell to a 1-0 loss midweek.

All eyes will now be on Split, as Rob Page’s young squad travel to Croatia to begin their European Championship qualifying campaign against the World Cup semi-finalists. Wales will, however, be without some high-profile players, with several key members of the squad announcing their retirement after the 2023 Qatar World Cup.

Wales will have to deal with life without Cymru legends Gareth Bale, Joe Allen, Chris Gunter and Johnny Williams. But Page will still have Aaron Ramsey to call on, as he steps into the captaincy role for the second time in his international career.

The task for Page and his backroom staff will be to negotiate a difficult transition period without some of the greats of Welsh football. Their first game against Croatia, who are ranked 7^th in the FIFA world rankings will not be an easy challenge, as Wales look to begin their European qualifying campaign with a positive start.

Club Action

Newport County will be looking to take advantage this weekend, as they take on Colchester, who currently sit seven points behind the Welsh club.

County have lost just once in five games and following an impressive 3-1 win against Tranmere last weekend, Newport will hope they can continue their current four match unbeaten run this weekend.

Wrexham will be looking to make it four wins from four as they gear up for this weekend’s clash against 18^th placed York City in the National League. The reds will be under pressure to keep their winning streak going, as Notts County continue to keep up with their high standards.

Adran Leagues

Wrexham’s ladies’ side have enjoyed a remarkable season already, having sealed promotion to the Adran Premier League. But the reds are now set to break the attendance record for a domestic football match in Wales, in their Adran North fixture against Connah’s Quay Nomads at the Racecourse Ground this weekend.

With just three weeks of domestic action left in the Genero Adran Premier League, Cardiff City ladies will look to get their hands on the league trophy this weekend, as they face fourth placed TNS.

But the Swans will want to put the pressure on Cardiff when they face Cardiff Met this weekend. Swansea beat the Archers 4-0 at the beginning of the month and will be hoping for a similar result as they continue to push the Bluebirds.

Pontypridd travel to Abergavenny, as they look to secure top spot in the Conference Plate. While Barry Town host second placed Aberystwyth Town.
